House Bill 799 is a bill pending in the Georgia Legislature which will allows for a DUI
conviction to be expunged if the individual convicted does not violate
any traffic laws for five years upon his or her arrest for DUI. Currently,
there is no opportunity to
expunge a DUI conviction.
This bill makes sense. Those that are convicted of a DUI but show a pattern
of subsequent good driving behavior should be allowed to get their DUI
conviction removed from their record. One of the worst consequences of a
DUI conviction is that it follows you forever and can impact on an your employment
opportunites in the future.
If you or someone you know is facing DUI charges, you need a lawyer who
understands these consequences and will fight to keep your record clean.
