Experts
High profile, publicized, as well as televised, criminal court proceedings
over the past decade have focused public attention on the use of an “Expert
Witness” in criminal trials.
What is an expert witness?
An expert witness is a person whose education, training, experience, and
skills to give them proficiency beyond the scope of the average person
or professional in that field. Some examples of the fields where “experts”
are used in criminal trials are: accident reconstruction, blood splatter
pattern analysis, DNA, arson, breathalyzer and extrapolation (toxicologist)
experts, computer, banking, financial and tax forensics, communication
technology, drug analysis, drug screening, chemists, engineers, fingerprinting,
gunshot residue, firearms, explosives, handwriting, polygraph (lie detectors),
photography, pathology, psychology, psychiatry, laboratory standards and
operation, police and evidence collection, forensics, medical standards
and procedures, etc.
The Law Offices of Howard J. Weintraub, P.C. was founded in 1985 with the
belief that whenever the government is trying to take away or interfere
in any way with the liberty of any individual, that person is entitled
to the aggressive and vigilant protection of his or her constitutional
rights and to the most vigorous and zealous defense permitted by our laws
– and that includes the use of bona fide, expert witnesses when
necessary to assist in your defense against state and federal Criminal charges.
Given that Mr. Weintraub served as a federal prosecutor in the Appellate
Section of the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice
in Washington, D.C. and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the
Northern District of Georgia, he understands both sides of the complex
criminal legal system and recognizes the impact an expert’s testimony
can have in a trial. Over the years Mr. Weintraub has developed a highly
reputable and qualified network of experts, each one being well respected
in the courts and possessing impeccable credentials in his/her specialty field.
Results matter when it’s your life.
